Mr. Matthews has been actively involved as a Health, Safety & Environmental Professional since 1994. His professional involvement has included small and large scale projects in various industries including; construction, oil & gas, aviation, transportation, health care and manufacturing.

Mat has participated in projects such as Banker's Hall II, Imperial Oil Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) Project, Syncrude's UE-1 Project, and various turnaround projects within the province. His current / past involvement includes Fluor Constructors, Nabors Drilling, Calvert Production Operators, Cooper Cameron, Weatherford, Baker Hughes., Meridian Electric & PCL Construction. Mr. Matthews has been involved with the ACSA, AMTA, AWHS, ENFORM & the CSSE.

Mat also has extensive health, safety & environmental training from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is an accredited health, safety & environmental auditor with ENFORM. Mr. Matthews is certified to instruct various health, safety & environmental training curriculum and is currently working towards obtaining his Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.

Mat maintains a broad knowledge in the Occupational Health & Safety Codes, Canada Labor Codes, National Safety Codes and Alberta Worker's Compensation Legislation. His ability to interpret legislation in addition to industry requirements allows him to identify solutions and opportunities to effectively streamline them with existing company operations.

The accidental workplace death of Mr. Matthews' father, Mr. David Francis Matthews MB has strengthened his convictions to influence organizations to take a proactive approach to Safety.
